what do you think of the pentax k-x digital slr? (should I buy it?)?

BAsically what the title says ^^
Also – is $1100 nz dollars (bout $700 us) a good deal for this camera with a 18-55 mm lense + a 55-300 mm lense?

It is an excellent camera. It may be the best camera at higher ISOs that is under $1000US.

Regarding how good a deal it is for $1100 nz dollars, I think that is very good, at B&H Photo who is a respected dealer with good prices, they have it for $729.95US so it sounds like you have found a good deal.

I say go for it, and I am a Nikon user! (who is thinking about a Pentax K-x for an extra camera).

I have a 7 yr old pentax slr (not digital) and want to up grade to a digital slr. Would the old lenses fit on a new pentax digital slr or would i need to get new lenses.

Lens for Pentax K7 Digital SLR?

I am looking to purchase a Pentax K7 with the Pentax Pentax smc DA 16-50mm F2.8 ED/AL (IF) SDM lens. My question is, will this have a full 16mm wide angle, or will it have the 35mm equivalent of 24.5mm?

I dont know the exact crop factor on the K7 but at 16mm the lens will have the field of view of around a 24mm lens. The K7 is an APS-c sensor camera like most consumer DSLRs.

I believe the Canon EOS 5D MarkII is the lowest priced full sensor DSLR.

Hi Ben,

The Pentax *ist DL with the SMCP-DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 is a fine starter kit, but $500 is WAY more than its market value. Assuming it and the lens are both in good condition and fully functional, I would not pay more than $200.

KEH, a very reliable source for used gear, has one in Excellent condition, with the same lens, for $215:

Since you can pay closer to $500, I’d look at at least a K100D with the same lens. You should be able to find one with the 18-55/3.5-5.6, all in good condition, for less than $300.

If you can find a K100D Super, it would be a little more future-proof because it adds compatibility with lenses that have built-in auto-focus motors (as opposed to relying on the the auto-focus motor in the camera body), but there are not as many of those around and it may cost $50 – 100 more.

But even better would be the K2000 (also known as the K-m). Like the K100D Super, it’s also compatible with lenses that have built-in auto-focus motors. You should be able to find one with the same lens, all in good condition, for about $400 or a bit less.

If you can go a bit higher than $500, the K-x (a current model) with the same lens is going for about $550; B&H Photo currently has it for $537:

Where can I purchase the Pentax K-x 12.4 MP Digital SLR the cheapest & receive it the quickest?

Pentax K100D slr digital camera. Sometimes when I take pictures colored lines go across the picture.why?

It’s not the memory card – happens with every card I’ve tried, and it doesn’t always happen. The lines don’t just appear of the lcd screen but are actually on the picture. Is something misaligned? any ideas?
My sister did hit my camera pretty hard, but I don’t think the colors started appearing until a while after.
EXAMPLE:

Well, first off, your picture is set to either private or friends or family, so that link is no good.

I would say though, based on what you have said, that the sensor in the camera has become misaligned or damaged. Send it in for repairs

Is Pentax *istDL 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera any good? I’m trying to buy an inexpensive slr digital camera on ebay and time is running out so i was hoping for some oppinions? anyone have one? or have a pentax or maybe dislike them? im a little clueless

I hate to abandon my my Pentax film camera its a Super program SLR, I wandered if a replacement CCD back kit to convert it to the digital age.

No. Leica tried that about four years ago. The back cost more than a DSLR camera, so after a couple of years, Leica dropped that product.

Just buy a good Pentax DSLR and use the lenses you have on both. I still have 3, 35 mm SLR’s which I use from time to time.

I want to go completely manual when taking pictures. So, it would be good to have no flash, just specification.

Right for starters you want a budget of £350.00+
Secondly you can go fully manual with Quite a few digital cameras that are SLR.
If you wish to stick to your budget of £200.00 then go to a good photographic shop and go for a second hand camera.

There are people out there that sell their cameras as soon as the next model comes out.

If you wish to be a purest then why not go for a Film using SLR they are still like film being used by us old fogey’s.

I guess you wish to see the results straight away?

Note that films will like the cameras made still for many years to come.
So Fox Mulder sorry Fox Talbert will not be spinning in his grave yet.

There’s nothing like being in the dark room at the Crucial time and having a member of the family banging on the door of the dark room /Bath Room wishing to use it!
AAH happy days.

Its also a good way of getting them to buy you a good digital SLR well it worked for me .

The sight of their happy little faces at the thought of being able to use the bath room any time they needed to, Warms the cockles of my heart!!!.

That reminds me I could do with a new camera! Now where did I pack away my Enlarger ETC!

Yes, it will work just fine on your Pentax K200D.

A D200 is a Nikon.
