How does D90 (and digital video cameras) do it?

I have never used a digital SLR for video till now but after seeing the launch and reviews of D90, a question comes to my mind.

What happens to the hot pixels in such a long exposure of the sensor? Don't they start appearing? I am not very clear about how video is captured on a sensor (without it showing hot pixels).
Howstuffworks doesn't give this information that I am seeking.
