    Just picked up a …
Just picked up a D40 to use with my 18-135mm and SB600. I went from a D50, and really I don’t see the missing AF screw as a problem (have the 50mm f/1.8) – manual focus is FUN! :)

I also gives some better out-of-camera jpegs – and has a better viewfinder.

    You can’t …
You can’t generalize this point to every dslr. Actually, there are dslr’s with live-view, where you can see the picture on the screen before you take the foto.

    Example: canon 450d,olympus e-420

No it does not have …
No it does not have Video Mode Ofcourse

And SLRs dont give Screen view while taking pictures… but only the Display after Pic has been taken

U’ll have to hold the Cam close to eye and see through the window to take pic… just like old Film cameras

    And I love that Part… :)

    you are so dumb, …
you are so dumb, 4gb is a bigger than 3,2 or 1. SO 4GB would be the one that stores more. make sure it’s SDHC, and by the way, i just got this camera and it does have a video mode that you have to turn off in the main menu so GTFO noob.

No it does not have a vidio mode because it is a slr (Single lense reflex)
I am thinking about purchasing a nikon d40 and yes it is a shame that there is no vidio….
    This is to anyone…
    What stores more?
    1 2 3 OR 4 Gb memory sd card?
    The more the more pic’s?
    Some one help!

    Is a200 is better …
Is a200 is better than d40 overall? I want to buy my first dslr. The thing i don’t like with a200 is it’s like a Plastic toy. a200 is cheaper than d40 in our area.

six days out of the box now and i am mightily, deeply impressed. just took some cracking shots of my niece’s christening – plus the camera was foolproof enough to let my 9 year old cousin run amok with it in the pub afterwards!

    mine is arriving …
mine is arriving tomorrow – after reading so many reviews and then finding this here I am certain I have made the right choice in upgrading from both compact and film SLR. The graphic of the aperture looks especially useful, since I always find numbers confusing…
